Call for papers for 2014 CEEC Medal

2014 CEEC Medal Applications Now Open

Elizabeth Lewis-Gray, Chairman of CEEC (Coalition for Energy Efficient Comminution) International Ltd today announced the opening of applications for the 2014 CEEC Medal. The CEEC Medal recognises and celebrates the contribution of outstanding published papers, articles or case studies profiling beneficial strategies for eco-efficient comminution.

“The CEEC Medal focuses attention to “best-in-class” research in, or documentation of, eco-efficient comminution, an area of mineral processing providing significant opportunities for improved profit and energy savings across the mining industry,” Ms Lewis-Gray said.

Past CEEC Medal recipients include Rybinski, E., Ghersi, J., Davila, F., Linares J., Valery, W., Jankovic, A., Valle, R., Dikmen S., for their paper “Optimisation and Continuous improvement of the Antamina Comminution Circuit”, (SAG2011). In 2013 C. Wang, S. Nadolski, O. Mejia, J. Drozdiak, B. Klein co-authored the paper titled “Energy and Cost Comparisons of HPGR based circuits with the SABC circuit installed at the Huckleberry Mine”.

Now in its third year, the CEEC Medal raises the status of beneficial eco-efficient comminution strategies by:

  1. Recognising and celebrating individuals or teams making an outstanding contribution to knowledge in this area.
  2. Acknowledging individuals or teams who are helping to build global knowledge of beneficial eco-efficient comminution practices by sharing best practice and leadership, inspiring similar excellence in others.
  3. Identifying individuals or teams building greater awareness and understanding in the wider community by sharing knowledge in eco-efficient comminution and energy savings.

Submissions must be innovative, of high technical standard and written or published within the past 18 months. Ideally, submissions will also include on-site studies and display a breadth and depth of publication of results and findings within the mining sector and research field.

Papers may be presented in any language and will be accepted until 15 March 2014.

The CEEC’s Medal Evaluation Committee will assess applicants’ submissions on originality, applicability, supporting research and documentation, prospective impact, potential energy savings, energy efficiency, earning improvements and presentation style. The Committee’s recommendations will be presented to the CEEC Board for final approval and announcement in June 2014. Full details of the application process may be found on www.ceecthefuture.org
