What is a Summer Study?

The Summer Study is an international institution, running for over 30 years in the US and 20 in Europe. The Australian Summer study is endorsed by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy and its European counterpart the ECEEE. These are popular events, renowned for bringing together leaders in energy efficiency from government, politics, academia, the private sector and NGOs. The 2016 Australian Summer Study is a three-day residential event set on the shores of the spectacular Manly Beach in Sydney. The program balances formal presentations by international experts with informal working sessions while allowing ample time for networking and collaboration. The relaxed, informal line-in format allows for in-depth discussions to develop across the event. Proven to be a great environment for cross fertilising ideas and making lasting connections, Summer Study delegates return year after year! The Summer Study brings together over 300 leaders, experts, practitioners and researchers from Australia and overseas from industry, government, the research community and consumer groups. The Summer Study offers a unique, informal, fun and creative environment to:

Highlight breakthroughs to boost energy productivity

Champion best practice across industry sectors

Brainstorm technology, market and policy innovation

Develop powerful ideas and strong relationships

Trigger effective action for a more productive economy

As the Chair of the Mining session; I encourage your attendance and contribution to this important stream.
