IEA Landmark Report released: International Energy Agency sparks conversation around steps to net zero by 2050

The International Energy Agency recently released a landmark report detailing a roadmap for the global energy sector, noting the path to net-zero by 2050 is narrow and extremely challenging. 400 milestones were shared to achieve net zero, highlighting challenges and opportunities for industry. The pace this demands further highlights that collaboration across industry is key.

The report also notes that the net‐zero emissions by 2050 scenario “also brings opportunities… the mining of minerals needed for clean energy transitions increases very rapidly, and mining expertise is likely to be highly valued in this context.” You can read the full report here.

Alison Keogh, CEO of CEEC, notes the importance of sharing knowledge – through publishing and presenting case studies and improvements at sites, new and emerging technology options, and targeted, active discussions on energy and emissions improvements in operations and designs.

A wide range of eco-efficient comminution and processing approaches are shared through CEEC’s network, and CEEC’s recent events have also included speakers sharing cutting edge technology and examples of hybrid and renewables installations in industry. We encourage readers to bring their ideas to and actively get involved in CEEC’s upcoming webinars and events, so please don’t hesitate to contact any of the Directors or staff to share priority topics, examples and knowledge - we want to hear from you.
