Global Calls for Abstracts - MEI, AusIMM, and other metallurgy & processing events

Online – Flotation ’21

The Minerals Engineering International (MEI) Flotation ’21 conference will be held online on November 8-12, 2021.

The five-day conference will focus on topics such as:

  • Fundamental reagent and flotation chemistry;
  • Bubbles, froths, bubble-particle interactions;
  • Flotation cell hydrodynamics, kinetics and scale-up;
  • Plant Operations, particularly related to new technology, and process mineralogy problems;
  • Flotation Circuits, and their modelling, simulation, control and optimization;
  • Flotation machine developments;
  • Metallic, non-metallic and coal flotation; and
  • Environmental considerations.

The conference is open for registration here. The organizers are still welcoming short abstracts of no more than 150 words, which should be submitted here as soon as possible.

Chile – Copper 2022

The Copper 2022 conference will be hosted by the Instituto de Ingenieros de Minas de Chile in Santiago from November 13-17, 2022.

The conference organizers said that engineers, scientists, and copper fabricators and users from the entire world will meet at this conference, exchanging ideas, scientific innovation, and development. Along with the technical papers and plenary sessions, some short courses and industrial tours are also being planned as part of the program.

The call for abstracts for papers on any of the conference’s technical, scientific or economic themes has been extended to October 31, 2021, and they can be submitted here. Other important dates for authors include the deadline for submission of papers in March 2022 and delivery of PowerPoint presentations in September 2022.

Online – Physical Separation ’22

MEI’s Physical Separation ’22 conference will be held online from May 9-11, 2022.

The 7th edition of this conference will bring together researchers and operators who have common interests in gravity concentration methods, classification techniques, solid-liquid separation, electronic sorting, magnetic and electrostatic separation, and microwave technology.

Abstracts can be submitted until the end of February 2022; there are further details here.

Online/Australia – Gold Plant of the Future Symposium 2022

AusIMM and the Gold Technology Group at Curtin University’s Gold Plant of the Future Symposium 2022 will take place online and in Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia on May 11-12, 2022.

The two-day event will feature international experts in gold processing, covering processing, sensors and automation, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and related issues. The first day will focus on current and emerging practice, with the second day driving conversations on identifying longer term technology needs and strategic thinking. All presentations will be recorded and available to watch indefinitely after the event.

Online – IntegratedMinPro ’22

MEI’s Integration, Optimisation & Design of Mineral Processing Circuits (IntegratedMinPro ’22) conference will take place online on June 13-15, 2022.

This exciting new conference will cover:

  • Optimization and integration across different unit operations;
  • The integration of new equipment into existing flowsheets;
  • Circuit layout design; modelling and optimization; and
  • Equipment selection methods.

The organizers invite papers on new approaches to mineral processing circuits, whether through design, modelling, optimization or operation. This includes integration of unit operations (such as comminution and flotation), novel flowsheets that incorporate new equipment and new approaches to optimising circuit design.

Short abstracts, of no more than 150 words, can be submitted here by the end of March 2022. Delegates can also register for the conference here.

Online – Sustainable Minerals ’22

MEI’s Sustainable Minerals ’22 conference will be held online from July 11-14, 2022. The 2021 edition of the conference was a great success – you can read more about it here.

The organizers noted that the rapid growth of the world economy is straining the sustainable use of the Earth’s natural resources due to modern society’s extensive use of metals, materials and products. This conference will discuss all aspects of material and metal usage.

The call for abstracts closes at the end of April 2022; they can be submitted here. Delegates can also register for the conference here.

Online/Australia – MetPlant 2023

AusIMM’s MetPlant 2023 conference will be held online and in Perth, Australia on May 29-31, 2023.

The theme of MetPlant 2023 will be ‘World's Best Practice in Metallurgical Plant Design and Operating Strategies’. CEEC Director and past Chair Joe Pease is one of the keynote speakers at the event.

The deadline for abstracts closes on June 24, 2022. Collaborative papers between clients, engineers and designers are strongly encouraged. Other key dates for authors include draft paper submission on December 19, 2022 and final drafts due on March 6, 2023.

Registrations are not yet open for the event, but if you are interested in attending you can subscribe here to get up-to-date conference announcements.
